Spinal Decompression
Non-Surgical Relief of Your Back Pain
Whether you have severe back pain or a bulging or herniated disc, you want effective and lasting relief. Many people are told they’ll need surgery or painkillers, both of which can be risky. Non-surgical spinal decompression is a drug-free option to address your pain or disc issue. Best of all, you won’t need to go under the knife.
Conditions Spinal Decompression Can Help
Most disc-related issues in the lower back or neck respond well to therapy, including:
- Bulging or herniated discs
- Degenerative disc disease
- Nerve pain (neuropathy)
- Facet syndrome
- Spinal stenosis
- Severe arthritis
Most of the issues that spinal decompression can help with stem from disc problems in the lower back or lower neck. Decompression aims to ease that pressure, so you can get back to doing what you love.
How Does the Process Work?
Unlike an inversion table, spinal decompression is more targeted. You’re harnessed to our decompression table to address the affected area. Then, adjustable mechanical traction artificially rehydrates the discs by creating a pumping action. It does this by alternating periods of stretch and periods of rest over a 20-minute session.
When your body is healthy, this rehydration occurs during movement, such as walking or running. By restoring mobility to the joint, it can heal itself, slowing and in some cases reversing the degeneration.
The treatment isn’t painful while you’re on the table. You may experience some muscle soreness or tightness after the first few sessions, but that generally goes away once your body begins to regain mobility.
Introducing the DRX9000 System
The DRX9000 Combination System is an advanced, FDA-cleared decompression machine that’s far more precise than basic traction or passive therapies. Through controlled cycles of stretch and relaxation, it targets the affected vertebral segment, creating negative pressure to gently draw disc material away from nerves and back into place. It also boosts fluid exchange, helping to rehydrate and deliver nutrients to the disc and promote healing.
The computer-guided system calibrates the pulses to your body while you lie comfortably on the padded table. Most sessions last about 30 minutes, with 20 to 24 sessions recommended for best results. During treatment, you can watch calming visuals or listen to relaxing music—many patients even nap.
Why You Should Try Spinal Decompression
Unlike surgery, this option is non-invasive and doesn’t mask symptoms. If the therapy is appropriate for your condition, we recommend giving it a try. It won’t hurt you, and it may help you avoid surgery. Surgery outcomes are generally only five years of being pain-free, because they don’t address the spine globally. Chiropractic care combined with spinal decompression looks at the spine as a whole to address the underlying cause of the problem.
If you’ve had prior imaging, bring it along. Dr. Kleinberg will review your history, perform an exam, and let you know whether this modality is right for you.
